O prelegencie

Bram Moolenaar is the creator and maintainer of Vim, a popular text editor that is available for almost every computer system. It comes installed with every Mac and Linux computer.  After studying electronics and inventing parts of digital copying machines Bram decided that creating open source software was more useful and fun, so he worked on that exclusively for several years. He currently works for Google, one of the few companies that embrace open source software. In between he did volunteer work at a project in Uganda and is still helping poor children there through the ICCF foundation (www.iccf.nl).

"Vim: Recent developments"

Vim has existed for a very long time, we celebrated its 25th birthday over a year ago.  And it continues to grow. This talk is about what has changed recently and development plans for the near future.  One of the interesting new features is the terminal window. It allows for tight integration with various tools, using the asynchronous job functionality that was added before. It also makes it possible to run a debugger in Vim. This is like an IDE that you can run over an ssh connection. Screen dumps of Vim running in a terminal window make testing better and easier.
